Homo floresiensis scavenged Komodo dragon leftovers, study finds

New research suggests Homo floresiensis — the so-called "hobbits" — were neither skilled big-game hunters nor fire users. Scientists fed a dead goat to a Komodo dragon and analysed thousands of ancient bones, concluding the small hominins likely scavenged meat scraps left behind by the giant lizards. The findings challenge earlier assumptions about the cognitive and survival abilities of this extinct human relative.
