TESS discovers Jupiter-like planet using gravitational microlensing for first time

NASA's TESS telescope has for the first time detected an exoplanet using gravitational microlensing, a technique derived from Einstein's theory of relativity. The newly found world is Jupiter-like and orbits a distant star. The discovery was made using archived TESS data and opens up a new category of planets the spacecraft could find in the future.
