Toxic algae bloom unusually early in Poland in 2026 due to record heat

A researcher has warned that toxic blue-green algae (cyanobacteria) have bloomed unusually early in Polish waters this year, directly as a result of record high temperatures. Early blooms pose a health risk to swimmers, as the algae produce toxins dangerous to humans and animals. The expert warns that if high temperatures persist, the situation could worsen in the coming weeks.
