Broken plates go in general waste, not glass recycling

Most people mistakenly throw broken plates into glass recycling bins, but this is wrong. Ceramic and porcelain dishes have a different chemical composition from glass bottles and jars, making them incompatible with glass recycling. Broken crockery should go into the general mixed-waste bin, ideally wrapped in paper or foil to protect waste collectors from cuts.
