Sony converts its last disc factory in Austria into a micro-optics lab

Sony is already repurposing its last physical disc factory in Austria — Sony DADC — into a micro-optics lab, days after announcing it will stop releasing PlayStation games on physical discs from 2028. The plant currently produces 600,000 blank Blu-rays per day, but output will drop to around 10% of current levels by 2028. All 300 existing staff will be retained for the new operation.
