Policy reversals leave US EV share at just 17% of sales by 2030, new report finds
A new report projects that only 17% of U.S. car sales will involve a plug-in vehicle by 2030, well below earlier estimates. The culprit is policy whiplash — successive administrations have introduced, reversed and reintroduced incentives, mandates and regulations on electric vehicles. The uncertainty has discouraged both automakers and consumers from committing to the EV transition.
