Germany hits all-time high of 41.7°C, UK shatters June record with 37.7°C

A heatwave swept western Europe last week, shattering national June records and setting new all-time highs. Germany recorded an all-time temperature record of 41.7°C, while the UK hit a provisional 37.7°C at Lingwood, Norfolk on 27 June, smashing the previous June record of 35.6°C set in 1976. Breaking a record by 2.1°C is exceptionally rare — such margins are typically just 0.1–0.2°C.
