A sleepless night boosts connections between brain cells
New research shows that a single sleepless night paradoxically increases the number of synaptic connections between brain cells. The effect may be a defensive mechanism the brain uses in response to sleep deprivation stress. Scientists stress, however, that chronic sleep loss remains harmful to overall health.
