Car theft gang busted — Deputy PM Gawkowski among victims who bought a clone
Polish police have broken up an organised crime gang that stole cars in France, registered them legally in the Czech Republic and then sold them in Poland as so-called clones — cars with falsified identities. Deputy Prime Minister Krzysztof Gawkowski was among the unwitting buyers, having purchased a vehicle that turned out to be a clone. The case highlights gaps in the used-car verification system.
