Adriatic dolphins increasingly follow trawlers for food as fish stocks decline
A study has found that bottlenose dolphins in the Adriatic are increasingly following trawlers to scavenge for food, with 76% of fishing boats in one area shadowed by dolphins. Young dolphins learn the technique from their parents. Researchers say the behaviour is a direct consequence of overfishing in the Adriatic and signals a serious ecological problem.
