Russia's Central Bank Plans Digital Ruble Launch on September 1

Russia's central bank governor announced that the digital ruble is on track to roll out on September 1, 2025. The EU has already preemptively sanctioned Russia's digital ruble as part of measures responding to Moscow's war against Ukraine. The digital ruble is Russia's state-backed central bank digital currency (CBDC).
