Xbox tests Disc2Digital: convert physical game discs into digital copies
Microsoft is testing a feature called Disc2Digital on Xbox that lets players insert a physical game disc and receive a linked digital copy on their account. The licence is tied to both the account and the disc, so lending the disc to a friend transfers the digital copy to their account, removing it from yours. The move follows Sony's announcement that PlayStation will stop selling physical game discs from 2028.
