24-bit/192kHz audio downloads are pointless — here's why

Music files sold as 24-bit/192kHz "Hi-Res Audio" are marketed as superior quality, but human hearing cannot distinguish them from standard CD quality (16-bit/44.1kHz). Higher sample rates and bit depths can actually introduce artefacts and distortions absent in lower-resolution formats. The case for Hi-Res Audio downloads is largely a marketing argument rather than a technical one.
