Tirana protests turn violent: 9 officers injured, 18 protesters arrested

Clashes outside Albania's parliament in Tirana left 9 police officers injured and resulted in 18 protester arrests on Thursday. Prime Minister Edi Rama responded sarcastically on X, saying the once "beautiful protest" had descended into "conflict, strife and violence." The 33-day-old "Flamingo Revolution" began as opposition to a luxury coastal resort linked to Jared Kushner, son-in-law of U.S. President Donald Trump, and has since grown into a broader demand for the resignation of Rama, opposition leader Sali Berisha, and the entire government.
