Security guard rescued from Venezuela rubble eight days after earthquakes
An international rescue team pulled 43-year-old Hernán Alberto Gil Flores alive from the rubble of a collapsed shopping centre in La Guaira, Venezuela, eight days after back-to-back earthquakes struck the coastal region. Rescuers made contact with the survivor over the weekend and supplied him with water and liquid nutrients through a narrow shaft during the complex operation. The earthquakes devastated the area, causing widespread destruction.
