CSIS: Russia has 1.4M casualties and advances just 70m per day
A CSIS report estimates Russia has suffered approximately 1.4 million casualties — killed, wounded and missing — since launching its invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. At roughly 70 metres per day on the most active front sections, Russia's rate of advance is among the slowest recorded in any war over the past century. Analysts also highlight Ukraine's growing advantage in drone technology.
