ECHR: Poland violated child's rights by refusing same-sex couple birth certificate
The European Court of Human Rights ruled Thursday in two cases concerning Poland's refusal to register foreign birth certificates of children born to same-sex couples. One case was dismissed, but in the second the ECHR found Poland violated the child's rights and ordered it to pay €5,000 in compensation. The ruling concerns Polish authorities' refusal to transcribe a foreign birth certificate into the national registry.
