Oxford physicist theorises alien megastructures could orbit supermassive black holes
An Oxford University physicist has proposed that alien megastructures could theoretically exist around so-called SLABs – stupendously large black holes with masses comparable to entire galaxies. Objects such as the Cosmic Horseshoe black hole already reach 36 billion solar masses. The concept emerged partly from research into dark matter, and raises new questions about the possible existence of advanced extraterrestrial civilisations near the universe's most extreme objects.
