US-UK drugs deal could cause 229,000 extra NHS deaths, study finds
A study estimates that the US-UK trade deal, which requires Britain to buy more American medicines, could divert funds away from other NHS services and result in 229,000 extra deaths. Higher drug spending would crowd out budgets for surgeries, diagnostics and other treatments. Researchers say the deal blurs the line between trade policy and public health outcomes.
