Algeria holds parliamentary elections amid expected low turnout
Algeria held parliamentary elections on July 2, the first since the Hirak pro-democracy protests that saw turnout collapse to just 23% in 2019. Although no opposition parties officially boycotted the vote this time, analysts still expected low participation as a sign of public discontent.
