US rejects extending USMCA trade deal beyond 2036

Representatives of the US, Canada and Mexico held talks about the USMCA free trade agreement, which is currently in force until 2036. Washington told its partners it does not want to extend the deal for another 16 years. The move is surprising given that USMCA was originally negotiated by Donald Trump during his first presidential term.
