Google loses final appeal — €4.1 billion Android antitrust fine upheld by EU top court

The Court of Justice of the European Union on Thursday dismissed Google's final appeal against a €4.125 billion fine for abusing its dominant position through the Android operating system. The General Court had previously reduced the original €4.34 billion penalty to €4.125 billion, a figure that now stands as final after eight years of litigation. The case centred on Google's restrictions placed on smartphone makers and mobile network operators to protect the dominance of its Search and Chrome services.
