Cannibalism died out because it wasn't worth the calories

A new study suggests that cannibalism among early humans disappeared not for moral reasons but biological ones — a human body provides far fewer calories than other available prey animals. Researchers calculated the caloric value of the human body and compared it with other food sources. The conclusion is that cannibalism simply wasn't a viable survival strategy.
