Natixis: Japan may have intervened to strengthen the yen
Alicia Garcia Herrero, chief APAC economist at Natixis, believes Japan's central bank likely intervened in currency markets after the yen strengthened sharply against the dollar on Thursday. No official confirmation was issued, but she argued such a move could not happen organically given widespread expectations of strong US economic data. Markets were awaiting US jobs figures, which have the potential to significantly move the dollar-yen pair.
