Study: cannibalism disappeared because it was biologically unprofitable as a food source

A new study suggests that cannibalism among humans died out because it was biologically unprofitable — the human body provides far fewer calories and nutrients than hunting animals. The costs and risks associated with killing and eating other humans outweighed the caloric benefits. The disappearance of the practice is thus attributed not only to cultural taboos but primarily to evolutionary pressures.
