US refuses to extend USMCA trade deal it negotiated in Trump's first term
The United States has informed Canada and Mexico that it does not wish to extend the USMCA free-trade agreement beyond its current term running to 2036. The move is particularly surprising given that the deal was originally negotiated by Donald Trump during his first presidency. Talks between representatives of all three governments have taken place regarding the future of the trilateral trade pact.
