Government drops Airbnb-free zones — short-term rental bill cut down to a registry

After months of work, government ministers failed to agree on how to regulate short-term rentals and abandoned plans for Airbnb-free zones. The draft legislation has been scaled back to include only a mandatory registry of short-term rental properties. Further restrictions are off the table for now.
