Statins and blood pressure drugs offset heart risks in obese adults over 40

A 25-year study published in The Lancet found that adults over 40 with obesity now have blood pressure and cholesterol levels comparable to those with a normal BMI. Researchers attribute this to the expanded use of statins and blood pressure medications, not the newer obesity drugs. The findings challenge the assumption that obesity always leads to worse cardiovascular outcomes.
