Moody's warns quantum computing poses significant threat to Bitcoin and crypto

Moody's Ratings warned on June 24 that quantum computing poses significant credit risks for digital assets including Bitcoin, as quantum machines could eventually break the cryptography protecting them. The warning follows two executive orders signed by President Trump on June 22, making quantum security a US strategic priority. Federal agencies have until 2030–31 to migrate to post-quantum cryptography, while crypto exchanges, custodians and stablecoin issuers face pressure to prove their defences.
