Antarctic volcano spews pure gold dust worth $6,000 a day into the air
Mount Erebus in Antarctica ejects particles of pure gold along with its usual lava and gases. Scientists estimate the volcano releases around 80 grams of gold dust daily, spreading it across hundreds of kilometres in the atmosphere. The gold particles are too dispersed to be economically recoverable.
