Non-optimal temperatures linked to millions of deaths globally between 2000–2019
A study published in The Lancet Planetary Health examined the global, regional and national burden of deaths linked to non-optimal ambient temperatures between 2000 and 2019. Using a three-stage modelling approach, researchers estimated mortality attributable to both excessive heat and cold. The findings highlight extreme temperatures as a significant and underappreciated global health risk.
