Neuron transcriptomes predict long-range connections in mouse visual cortex

Research in the mouse visual cortex showed that multimodal cell-type definitions, gene expression patterns and cell location can predict the long-range projection targets of excitatory neurons. The findings link transcriptomic identity with morphological, electrophysiological and circuit-level properties. The study was published on 1 July 2026 in Nature.
