Australian arts degrees to stay at $50,000 until at least 2028
Barney Glover, head of the Australian Tertiary Education Commission, has said he will not recommend interim measures to cut the $50,000 cost of arts degrees, even while calling the Job-ready Graduates scheme a failure. The Morrison-era program slashed fees for STEM courses while sharply raising costs for arts and humanities, leading to falling enrolments among lower-income students. Any reform is now unlikely before 2028.
