Fuel prices jump after government scheme ends; coalition eyes 7 zł/l pain threshold
Fuel prices at Polish petrol stations rose immediately on Wednesday after the government's "Ceny Paliw Niżej" subsidy programme ended. The ruling coalition has adopted an informal pain threshold of 7 złoty per litre, above which a VAT cut could be triggered. Some coalition politicians argue the market should be allowed to self-correct without further intervention.
