Lake Pilchowice drained — dead fish, war relics and sunken village exposed

The draining of Lake Pilchowice in Lower Silesia for urgent dam repairs has exposed thousands of dead fish, car wrecks, traces of a submerged village and World War II military artefacts. Local residents are calling it an ecological disaster. The contractor maintains the emptying was necessary for flood safety in the region.
