Water cannons cool tourists at Rome's Colosseum as heat nears 40°C
Italian civil protection teams deployed water spray cannons and distributed bottled water to tourists outside Rome's Colosseum as temperatures approached 40°C during a severe heatwave. The ancient amphitheatre remains one of Italy's most visited attractions, drawing large crowds even in extreme heat. Visitors were seen queuing under direct sunlight before being helped by cooling stations.
