Europe warms faster than rest of world as heatwaves become the new normal

Emma Howard Boyd, Chair of the National Heat Risk Commission at LSE's Grantham Research Institute, argues that Europe's recurring heatwaves are no longer exceptional but evidence of a structural climatic shift. Europe is warming faster than most other regions, with heatwaves becoming more frequent and longer-lasting. Boyd calls for extreme heat to be treated as a systemic national risk rather than a seasonal inconvenience.
