"VPN Go" Browser Extensions Were Secretly Stealing Clipboard Data Every Half Second

Security researchers at Socket discovered that two "VPN Go: Free VPN" browser extensions — available on the Chrome Web Store and Firefox Add-ons — were secretly harvesting copied text and sending it to attacker-controlled servers every half a second. The clipboard-stealing code was not present at launch but was added via a routine update after the extensions had gained user trust. Any data copied while the extensions were active should now be treated as compromised.
