Polish investment accounts bill raises fears of tax despite stock market losses
Poland's parliament held a second reading of the Personal Investment Accounts (OKI) bill, which would exempt part of savings from the so-called Belka tax on capital gains. After amendments were tabled, the bill was referred back to the Public Finance Committee. PiS MP Henryk Kowalczyk warned that under the current draft, an investor could record a stock market loss and still be liable for tax.
