Powerbanks on planes: allowed capacities and carry-on rules explained

Powerbanks must be carried in hand luggage only — never in checked baggage — and must bear a CE or UN 38.3 certification. Capacity up to 100 Wh (roughly 27,000 mAh) is allowed without airline approval; between 100 Wh and 160 Wh requires prior consent. Carrying a third powerbank and missing certification are the most common reasons for confiscation at security.
