Accelerated biological ageing may drive rising cancer rates in under-50s

Rates of certain cancers – including colorectal, lung and uterine cancer – are rising steadily among people under 50. A new study suggests that accelerated biological ageing, in which cells accumulate DNA damage faster than expected, may be a key factor. Scientists have been tracking this trend for years, but its underlying causes remain unclear.
