Former Indonesian education minister Nadiem Makarim jailed 10 years for Chromebook corruption

An Indonesian corruption court has sentenced former education minister Nadiem Makarim, co-founder of the Gojek superapp, to ten years in prison over a $600 million school laptop procurement programme. Nadiem was appointed minister by President Joko Widodo in 2019. Ministry officials purchased Chromebooks at inflated prices, causing losses to the state budget.
