New star activity catalogue will help identify potentially habitable exoplanets

Scientists have compiled a new catalogue of star activity and rotation rates to aid the search for habitable worlds beyond our solar system. Being within a star's habitable zone is not enough — stellar activity such as flares can make life impossible on an orbiting planet. The catalogue is intended to support current and future space missions hunting for exoplanets.
