NHS urges up to 4 million women with irregular periods to be checked for PMOS
New NHS guidance recommends that up to 4 million women in the UK with irregular periods be investigated for polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome (PMOS), formerly known as polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS). The WHO estimates the condition affects up to 13% of women of reproductive age. NICE says PMOS is consistently underdiagnosed and inconsistently managed across the health system.
