WhatsApp to let users reserve a username to hide their phone number

WhatsApp is introducing a username reservation feature that will allow users to connect with new contacts without sharing their phone number. Once the username system launches, existing phone numbers will remain protected from new contacts. A specific launch date has not yet been announced.
