French lower house passes assisted dying bill

France's lower house of parliament passed a bill on Wednesday that would allow terminally ill and suffering patients to request a lethal substance under an assisted dying scheme. Nearly 2,000 amendments were debated during the legislative process. The bill has now been sent to the Senate for further consideration.
