FAA moves to lift ban on supersonic flights over the United States
The US Federal Aviation Administration has taken its first formal step toward scrapping the longstanding ban on supersonic flights over American soil. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy says advances in technology have made it possible to significantly reduce the sonic boom impact on people on the ground. The move could pave the way for commercial supersonic aircraft currently in development, such as those being built by Boom Supersonic.
