It’s an extensively updated version of the ID.4 and features a new design.

The Volkswagen ID.4 went out of production in Chattanooga, Tennessee in April as the plant is embracing “higher‑volume products that meet market demand.” While the electric crossover is dead in America, the automaker has previously said existing inventory should be enough to “support customer demand into 2027.”

After that point, a “future version” will arrive in America. It’s known as the ID. Tiguan and spy photographers recently snapped a prototype undergoing testing in the Alps.

Disguised to look like the outgoing model, the electric Tiguan has a fully enclosed grille that will likely echo the one found on the new ID. Polo and facelifted ID.3 Neo . Bigger changes occur further below as the model has a new bumper, which channels air into revamped side curtains.

The lower intake is new as well and it trades a honeycomb mesh pattern for horizontal bars. The crossover also sports a new center-mounted sensor pod.

Moving down the sides, the profile looks pretty familiar at first glance. However, a closer inspection reveals a surprising number of changes for a facelift.

In particular, there are new doors and a flatter shoulder line. Designers also added more conventional door handles as well as streamlined lower cladding. We can even see new third quarter glass and a reimagined rear pillar.

The extensive changes continue at the rear, where there’s an all-new liftgate, bumper, and diffuser. They’re joined by new taillights, which are hidden behind a photorealistic graphic.

Interior changes should be pretty significant as well and we can likely expect a new dashboard, upgraded displays, and revamped switchgear. We also wouldn’t be surprised to find a new steering wheel and higher quality materials.

The upgrades won’t end there as the ID. Tiguan will ride on the new MEB+ platform . We can also likely expect 58- and 79-kWh battery packs and a charging capacity of around 183 kW. They should be joined by upgraded motors offering improved performance and increased efficiency.

Of course, we’ll get a better idea of what to expect either late this year or early in 2027.

SAN FRANCISCO — AI giant Anthropic has already become a dominant player in technology and a household name for everyday users of artificial intelligence. Can it make drugs too?

On Tuesday, the company announced it is going to try. Though it’s unclear whether Anthropic intends to bring drug candidates to commercialization, multiple executives emphasized how important it is for Anthropic to get hands-on experience trying to use its own products to solve real scientific problems.

Eric Kauderer-Abrams, the company’s head of life sciences, said Anthropic has been asking itself what it should be doing besides training models and building products. During an event here to launch the company’s newest application, Claude Science , he said Anthropic had come up with one answer.

Connectivity hub aims to replace traditional laptop docking stations entirely

InnLead Monhub’s 60Hz refresh rate may limit the fast-paced gaming experience quality

InnLead Monhub has launched a 15.6-inch FHD 1080P portable screen hub designed for multi-device use across work, travel, and entertainment contexts.

This monitor uses a 1920 x 1080 resolution at 141 PPI with LCD IPS technology for general productivity and media consumption on compact portable setups.

It combines IPS panel visuals, 60Hz refresh rate, 280 cd/m² brightness, and 1000:1 contrast for mixed productivity and media tasks usage under typical indoor conditions.

Connectivity and display structure under scrutiny

The InnLead Monhub claims to turn any workspace into a flexible setup with connectivity that includes HDMI 2.0, USB 3.0, dual Type-C, USB, and TF or microSD card support.

The brightness of the display reaches between 280 cd/m² and 250 cd/m², alongside 1000:1 contrast and 16.7M color support for varied viewing conditions.

This portable monitor supports plug-and-play connections, allowing laptops , consoles, and smartphones to extend displays without the complex setup steps required.

Marketed partly as a business monitor , the device emphasizes remote productivity, yet reliance on a single 60Hz panel may limit more demanding workflows.

It comes with a light travel weight of around 730g, although the 1075g standard weight may still feel noticeable inside compact bags.

Crowdfunding uncertainty and use case debate

The InnLead Monhub is currently on crowdfunding through Indiegogo, a stage where promised specs and final retail hardware often diverge.

SmartDock, the branding behind the device, pitches one screen as a replacement for separate laptop docks, console adapters, and phone stands.

Ava InnLead, the project's creator, frames the pitch around mobility, though that promise has not been tested outside the company's own marketing.

“With Monhub, we bring high-resolution visuals, seamless multi-device connectivity, and ultimate portability — empowering you to work, game, and create anytime, anywhere,” the company said

While casual gamers may find the 60Hz refresh rate acceptable, competitive players accustomed to faster panels will likely notice the difference immediately.

The device also claims broad compatibility with Mac, PC, consoles, and mobile hardware, a list that sounds simple until different operating systems and drivers get involved.

The built-in stand is described as sturdy and adjustable, though how it performs after repeated daily setup and breakdown remains untested.

As with most Indiegogo campaigns , Monhub's real test will not be its specification sheet but whether the finished product matches what backers were shown.

In a TikTok video that has racked up 1.4 million likes , men are handed scissors and a sheet of paper and asked to cut out a Christmas tree while describing their favorite memory with their partner. The men start telling a story, but most trail off as they concentrate on the cutting. In another clip, a woman calmly juggles four different chores while her husband struggles to put on socks and hold a conversation simultaneously.

These videos are designed to make you laugh. But they also reflect and reinforce the idea that women are better multitaskers than men. Studies putting this stereotype to the test have yielded very mixed results. Yet the idea that there is a gender difference in the ability to multitask remains lodged in the public mind. Researchers think there are various reasons why the stereotype persists.

Multitasking under the microscope

Science is clear on one thing: multitasking is incredibly difficult. The human brain has evolved to single-task. “We can do things at the same time when they are highly automatized, but other than that, humans in general struggle,” said Marco Hirnstein , professor in cognitive neuroscience at the University of Bergen, Norway. (I was relieved to hear that as I struggled to listen, take notes, and think of my next question all at once during our Zoom call.)

But when it comes to whether women are better multitaskers than men, scientists don’t seem to agree. Early studies seemed to back the stereotype. In 2013 , researchers in the U.K. found that everyone slowed down when multitasking — but men slowed down significantly more. Two years later, a Russian team reported that men used more parts of their brains to multitask and still took longer, suggesting that multitasking requires more effort in men.

Then the picture got complicated. A 2017 study concluded that men and women multitask equally well, even if their brains may go about it differently. In 2018 , when volunteers were given a realistic multitasking challenge — preparing a room for a meeting while fielding distractions — there was no difference between men and women on every measure the researchers tracked: accuracy, time, distance walked, remembering to do the right thing at the right moment, and dealing with distractions. A 2019 study found that multitasking led to a similar loss of speed and accuracy for both men and women.

Then a 2021 study flipped the script entirely, finding that men handled multitasking better than women, which the researchers chalked up to faster mental processing speed in men.

“The findings are incredibly inconsistent,” said Hirnstein . “I would say it’s probably even more inconsistent than you normally get in psychological research.”

Making sense of the research

Tilo Strobach , a professor in general psychology at MSH Medical School Hamburg, Germany, suspects that the mixed findings are due to differences in study design. “My feeling is that this mix is because of the different types of multitasking situations that were used across the studies,” he said.

Multitasking means doing two or more things simultaneously or in rapid succession. So talking while driving counts, but so does cooking, as it involves a quick sequence of steps. Different studies use different multitasking setups, with some task combinations overlapping in time and others being more sequential, explained Strobach. This variation in setups, he argues, helps explain why the findings are so mixed.

Gender differences in specific tasks also play a role. Hirnstein’s own research has shown that women tend to be better at finding and remembering words than men . Men are better at imagining what a complex 3D cube would look like if you were to rotate it . If you choose tasks for a multitasking experiment that already favor men or women, “then you’re probably just going to find the same difference that you observe in the single task,” Hirnstein said.

A good example of this is a 2013 study that found men were better at multitasking than women. The researchers traced this difference in multitasking outcomes to men’s superior spatial ability. Interestingly, when women were in the menstrual phase of their cycle — a time when women’s spatial skills are at their highest — the multitasking gap disappeared.

A self-fulfilling prophecy or a kernel of truth?

Strobach is certain that “there’s no difference between men and women at all” when it comes to multitasking ability.

But the stereotype can become a self-fulfilling prophecy, he said. If men expect to do worse than women, that expectation can sap their motivation and effort, increase their anxiety, and drag down their performance — making the stereotype look true even when no real difference in multitasking ability exists.

Hirnstein takes a slightly different view. He agrees that stereotypes affect performance, but believes that performance informs stereotypes too. People watch how others perform and generalize from that. The resulting stereotype is exaggerated and overly generalized, he said, “but there is this kernel of truth.”

Currently, “we don’t have proof that there is a sex difference in multitasking because the data is not consistent enough,” Hirnstein said. But he suspects there is one: “If you measure it right, you probably will find something.”

A specific behavior might drive the stereotype

André and Diana Szameitat, a husband-and-wife research team at Brunel University of London, have offered a different explanation for why the stereotype persists. André Szameitat is deputy director of the university’s Centre for Cognitive and Clinical Neuroscience; Diana Szameitat is an honorary lecturer in its psychology department.

In a study published earlier this year in Psychological Research , the Szameitats asked 41 men and 37 women to juggle five tasks at once in a setup that closely resembled real life. At one table, participants followed a recipe with pretend ingredients. When a kitchen timer rang, they broke off and dashed to a second table for two quick tasks — a phone-number search and a visual search — then returned to cooking. All the while, they watched a slideshow of words, jotting down any on a red background, a task that mimics the act of keeping an eye on a toddler. And every 20 seconds, a speaker played a recorded question they had to answer aloud, such as: “Would you rather lose all your money and valuables, or every photo you’ve ever taken, and why?”

Across the cooking, searching, and monitoring tasks, men and women performed equally well. However, a difference emerged in the talking task. Men failed to answer the questions more than twice as often as women.

When a group of neutral observers, unaware of what the researchers were testing, watched short films of the participants at work, they rated the female multitaskers as being more in control of the task, performing better, and being less stressed than the male multitaskers. Their judgment was highly influenced by the participants’ performance on the conversation task.

André Szameitat said the study showed two things. First, men and women differ in how well they multitask when one of the tasks is talking. Second, other people see this difference and use it to judge how well someone multitasks. “We suggest that this pattern can explain why the stereotype that women are better at multitasking than men may have developed,” he said. But he warned that the results only show a correlation for now, and more work is needed to prove that men’s reticence while multitasking is what drives the stereotype.

For now, it remains unclear whether men strategically drop the conversation to focus, or because they are unable to keep talking while doing something mentally demanding. “It could be a conscious decision,” Hirnstein said. “It could also be that they had so much going on at the same time that something had to give, and the first thing to go was this verbal task.”

If a male partner starts ignoring you mid-conversation while he’s busy with something else (just like the men in those TikTok videos), “one shouldn’t get angry,” Szameitat said. The study suggests this is a common pattern, not rudeness.

But there are settings where a man’s reduced talkativeness could be a serious issue. “There are highly critical situations where communication is essential, for example between pilot and co-pilot or control tower,” Szameitat said. Yet it is not yet known whether the findings would carry over into a high-stress event such as an aviation emergency, or whether the difference might disappear under that kind of pressure. This is a question for future research, Szameitat said. “Because these are early findings, it is important not to overstretch such implications and avoid headlines like ‘Men can’t fly planes’ or alike.”

Sometime in the next few weeks, the decommissioned Ticonderoga class guided missile cruiser ex- USS Mobile Bay , the 7th example of her class built, will be sent to the bottom of the Pacific Ocean by friendly forces, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune . The Tarawa class ex-USS Peleliu (LHA-5) amphibious assault ship will also be pummeled to its doom by friendly fire. These are two very high-profile and vastly different targets, which will make for a uniquely interesting pair of SINKEX drills. The event will take place during the 30th Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) biennial international maritime exercise.

RIMPAC 2026 began June 24 and runs through July 31; however, the date and manner of the sinking are not yet known. The sinking exercise (SINKEX) is the capstone event at each RIMPAC , though the type of surplus ship used varies.

Mobile Bay was decommissioned in 2023 and determined ineligible to be placed on the National Register of Historic Places a year later, sealing its fate.

Commissioned on Feb. 27, 1987, Mobile Bay took part in a number of major events during its 36 years in service.

“The ship’s operational history includes the 1989 evacuation of the U.S. Embassy in Beirut, Lebanon; launching 22 Tomahawk Land Attack Missiles (TLAMs) in support of Operation Desert Storm and the evacuation of thousands of people displaced by the volcanic eruption of Mt. Pinatubo in the vicinity of Subic Bay, Republic of the Philippines during Operation Fiery Vigil in 1991,” according to the Navy . It also participated in the “U.S. Coast Guard Law Enforcement Detachment (CGLED) seizure of 10.5 metric tons of cocaine approximately 800 miles southwest of Acapulco, Mexico, and launching TLAMS in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003.”

In addition to the date of its sinking being so far unknown, we also do not know how Mobile Bay will be struck. These events are used to test out a variety of weapons systems and crews to see how they perform. This often includes the ship being hit by many different kinds of weapons.

In the most recent SINKEX, for instance, we wrote that a U.S. Air Force B-2A Spirit bomber fired an AGM-158C Long Range Anti-Ship Missile (LRASM) at the ex-USS Juneau during Valiant Shield 2026 in the Western Pacific. Often times everything from torpedoes to short-range missiles to rocket artillery to airborne gunfire is used to maximize the sacrifice of the retired hull.

Mobile Bay , which took part in RIMPAC 2022, is one of four Ticonderoga class cruisers set to be disposed of by a SINKEX. In addition, the ex-USS Vella Gulf , the ex-USS Antietam and the ex-USS Port Royal are all facing the same fate, according to Navy records.

The ex-USS Valley Forge was the first of the decommissioned Ticonderogas to be sunk, during target practice in Hawaii in November 2006 .

The Ticonderogas carry Tomahawk Land Attack Missiles (TLAM) and serve as air and missile defense batteries and command and control platforms. They are also equipped with Harpoon anti-ship missiles and MH-60R Sea Hawk helicopters, and execute anti-submarine warfare operations.

Built in the 1980s and early 1990s, these cruisers primarily provide the backbone of a carrier strike group’s air warfare capabilities.

There are nine ships in this class still serving in the Navy. Of those, a half dozen are slated to be decommissioned in the coming years, while the remainder — USS Gettysburg , USS Chosin and USS Cape St. George — have been modernized or are close to finishing modernization and will serve out toward the end of the decade .

The Navy is billing RIMPAC 2026 as the largest in the history of these exercises.

“Thirty nations, over 30 surface ships, five submarines, 15 national land forces, more than 206 aircraft and 30,000 personnel will train and operate in and around the Hawaiian Islands during the exercise,” the Navy said in a release . “RIMPAC provides a unique training opportunity while fostering and sustaining cooperative relationships among participants that are critical to ensuring the security of sea lanes and stability across the region.”

It will be interesting to see how the ex- Mobile Bay is ultimately disposed of. We will provide an update when more information is available.

President Donald Trump Discloses More Than $50 Million in Bitcoin Held in Cold Storage

President Donald Trump holds more than $50 million in Bitcoin, stored in cold wallets, according to his 2025 annual financial disclosure released by the U.S. Office of Government Ethics. The filing is a detailed federal accounting of the president’s personal crypto position since he took office in January 2025.

In total, Trump reported generating more than $1 billion in crypto-related revenue last year, including $635 million in royalties from his memecoin venture and more than $500 million from token sales associated with World Liberty Financial.

The headline figure of over $50 million sits in a single line of the report. Under the entity CIC Digital LLC, an asset described as a “Cryptocurrency Wallet Virtual Bitcoin Key (held in cold wallet)” carries a valuation of “Over $50,000,000,” the highest bracket the disclosure form permits.

The form does not require a precise number above that threshold, so the true size of the holding could exceed the stated floor. The Bitcoin line reported no income for the period, a result consistent with an asset held rather than sold.

The Bitcoin sits inside The Donald J. Trump Revocable Trust, dated April 7, 2014, of which the president is the sole beneficiary. That structure places the holding within the same trust that controls his stake in Trump Media & Technology Group, the parent of Truth Social.

The cold-storage designation indicates the private keys are kept offline, a method that removes the asset from internet-connected systems and the custody of a third-party exchange.

Bitcoin is one of several digital assets in the cold wallets tied to CIC Digital LLC. The same entity reports an Ethereum key valued between $5 million and $25 million, a staked Ethereum position through a Coinbase staking agreement that produced $510,808 in validator rewards, a USDC stablecoin holding in the $5 million to $25 million range, and a smaller dollar-denominated wallet.

Across the two largest asset classes, Bitcoin and Ethereum, the disclosed value runs past $100 million.

Separate disclosures also report that Vice President JD Vance holds Bitcoin valued between $250,000 and $500,000. Vance’s holdings have been previously reported.

Trump and World Liberty Financial’s holdings

A second cluster of crypto holdings appears under entities connected to World Liberty Financial, the decentralized-finance venture that carries the Trump name.

Those wallets include a separate Bitcoin key valued at “Over $50,000,000,” an Ethereum key in the same top bracket, and positions in other crypto. The World Liberty entries also record large income figures tied to token sales, including more than $236 million in net proceeds distributed by World Liberty Financial LLC and a $150 million income figure on the Ethereum line.

Trump’s disclosure reports more than $500 million in proceeds from token sales tied to World Liberty Financial, the Trump-linked venture behind the WLFI governance token, with the company’s combined wallet entries summing to roughly $527 million.

The filing also records a $635,068,835 royalty payment under CIC Digital LLC, linked to a meme-coin licensing agreement with Celebration Coins. A related entity, DTTM Operations LLC, lists 15.75 billion World Liberty governance tokens valued in the top bracket.

The disclosure arrives at a moment when the president’s crypto interests intersect with his administration’s policy agenda . Trump has called himself somewhat of an ally of the digital-asset industry, and his government has moved to establish a federal posture toward reserves and regulation.

The personal holdings detailed in the filing give the public a direct view of the scale of the assets the president owns in the sector his administration oversees.

A sitting U.S. president now reports holding more than $50 million of Bitcoin in self-custody, in cold storage, in the same manner long advocated by Bitcoin holders who prize control of their own keys.

What the filing does not reveal is when the Bitcoin was acquired, at what price, or how the holding has changed across the year. The form’s bracket system caps reporting at the $50 million ceiling and offers no window into cost basis or timing.

It’s important to note that the $635 million royalty figure appears as a single line in the filing (recorded under CIC Digital as a license agreement with Celebration Coins, which the document does not explicitly label a “memecoin”), the “more than $500 million” from World Liberty Financial and the “$1 billion” total are aggregations compiled by Bitcoin Magazine.

The filing’s single stated token-sales line is $236.25 million, and larger figures were found by summing multiple separate crypto-wallet entries. It’s also worth flagging that several of these amounts are described as gross “proceeds from token sales distributed by World Liberty Financial LLC,” so they don’t necessarily represent net income to Trump himself.
