NASA tests laminar flow wing concept to cut future aircraft fuel costs

NASA's Armstrong Flight Research Center in Edwards, California, conducted flight tests as part of the CATNLF (Crossflow Attenuated Natural Laminar Flow) project. A scale-model wing was tested to maximise smooth laminar airflow, which could reduce aerodynamic drag and lower fuel costs for future commercial aircraft. Flight test engineer A.J. Jaffe and pilot Nils Larson took part in the tests.
