US Supreme Court upholds birthright citizenship, rejecting Trump's restrictions

A divided US Supreme Court upheld the constitutional right to birthright citizenship, rejecting President Donald Trump's planned restrictions on it. Justices Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito and Neil Gorsuch dissented, arguing that national citizenship was derivative of state citizenship and required domicile. Elizabeth Wydra of the Constitutional Accountability Center countered that domicile is not a valid basis for determining citizenship.
